Camp

I went on my first camping trip at Camp Ma Kee Wa when I was seven. It only a weekend – but it was enough hook me for life.

Today, I volunteer mentoring youth with Camp Ooch, Amici Camping Charity, Girl Guides of Canada and SeriousFun Camps and sit on Amici Young Professional’s Council.

Recently, I lead the 2018 Girl Guides of Canada National Sponsored Trip to Sydney, Australia with twenty 14-year-olds for the Sydney International Jamboree where we camped with 1500 other Girl Guides.

I’ve worked with ALIVE Outdoors taking school groups on residential camping trips and backcountry canoe trips in the fall.

In the past have worked as a Waterfront Director at Camp Mi-A-Kon-Da and taught swimming lessons with Bloorview Kid’s Rehab and the Halifax YMCA. I am a current NLS with the Lifesaving Society of Canada.

I strongly believe in the power of camp and have seen firsthand how much of an impact it has on young people.  To read more about some of my camping experiences – check out my blog here.
