Everything I watched in February and March

We’re back besties with another round-up of everything I’ve watched in February and March. It’s been a busy few months for me with MBA projects, work, and the real world re-emerging. I watched quite a bit of stuff and a lot of best bests.

Let’s get into it.

Best Bets

Turning Red

I cannot even begin to explain how much I loved this movie. I’ve texted so many friends, I’ve talked to so many people about it at work, and I’ve spent all my time listening to 4*Town.

Turning Red is a movie that felt like it was made me for and my friends in the best possible way — a group of girls from Toronto who were tweens/early teens in the early 2000s.

There are very few projects that feel this wonderfully authentic to tween girls and their experiences. It’s an instant classic. It’s a “I want to buy this on DVD” kind of movie IYKWIM. I cannot wait to watch and rewatch this movie over and over again over the years.

Power and Politics

It feels like the world has flipped recently and Power and Politics is the show I turn to sort it all out. From the Ottawa Convoy to the current war in Ukraine, the coverage has been phenomenal and conversations have been extremely engaging. Plus, Vassy is back from her mat leave and I’m just thrilled to have her intelligence back in my life.

Bridgerton S2

I was medium about S1. I am obsessed with season 2. Like “I burn for you” was iconic, but Anthony is enough. The enemies-to-lovers plotline is EVERYTHING. I purposefully watched this show slowly to really drag it out and it was wonderful. Friends who read the books were not thrilled, so take my “I only watch the show” take with a grain of salt – perhaps it could have been better, but I did really love it.

Below Deck: Sailing Yacht S3

IYKYK, but I 10000% ship Daisy and Gary and I am LOVING this season.

Real Housewives of Salt Lake City S2

Wow. What a messy season in the best way. The level of totally unnecessary drama was what we as viewers want, but… like this was wild. I don’t think anyone is coming out of this season unscathed or looking particularly good. We know at least two cast members are leaving after this season (for good reasons), who knows if more will leave. I cannot wait for season three.

Joe Millionaire: For Richer or Pooer

Incredible. I officially gave up on Bachelor Nation and I am a Joe Millionaire stan now. What a brilliant show for so many reasons.  I loved the ending. My only complaint is that I’m now used to the reunion specials, and I want a reunion special. I want to know what’s up with my Joes! Also… next year, I want two women.

Sweet Magnolias

This show is a warm hug. It’s cheesy AF but it’s the perfect cozy show. I would really like to pour one out and watch 1000 more episodes. Please make them asap.

tick, tick… Boom

So, so… good. I always liked Andrew Garfield. I am now in love with Andrew Garfield. What an incredible movie. 10/10. Loved it.

The Tinder Swindler

This was just a ride. I love a true crime doc and this was wonderful. Shoutout to my buddy Isa for texting me to watch it. So glad you did. It was great.

How I Met Your Father

I’m always here for a Hilary Duff show – but this just feels like Grown Up Lizzie McGuire in the best way possible. The cast is fantastic, the plot lines are so fun,  and it is exactly the easy show I want.

Okay but not great

Love is Blind S2

I hate watch this show you know? Like I want to love it, but it’s so bad… and yet I keep watching it. The only reason why it’s not on the skip list, is because the reunion was one of the best reunion specials I’ve ever seen and also we stan Deepti.

This Is Us – S6

Still watching, it’s getting better, but we REALLY need to wrap this up. I’m hopeful.

Big Brother S10

I love Big Brother – but I know it’s not for everyone but this show has such a warm spot in my heart because it was my first show. This season is wild, it’s been up and down – lots of twists and turns. It’s not on my “best bets” list because it’s not for everyone. If you want to watch it, go for it, if not that’s okay.

Dollface

I love the idea of this show and I really like this show, I just keep putting it down and not picking it back up. I have a gut feeling that it will move up to a best bet as I get more into it.

Real Housewives of NYC – S7

I’m really getting bored of this. Can I give up yet or is it going to get better? Bethenny is back which is very exciting but I’m still frustrated with the rest of them.

Skip

Byron Baes

Okay so WOW THIS WAS BAD… and yet… I watched the whole thing 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Let’s clock this up to a “I watched this so you don’t have to” show.

Rewatch Central

Rookie Blue

I love this show so much. I don’t know why I’ve circled back to it, but it is like a comforting warm hug and I just adore all the characters on this show so much. The family vibes at 15 Division make me so happy, and the relationships are so lovely. It’s just a wonderful show. Sure there are aspects of the show that have not aged well on rewatch (it’s a cop show… of course there are issues) but the interpersonal drama of the characters is as wonderful as ever. I’m just finishing S4 and it’s a joy.
