Another season, another list of stuff I watched. I still don’t feel like I’m up to my usual standard of TV watching. Between work, my MBA, and family stuff, finding time to watch shows has been hard. That being said, I’ve found a few that are *really* good.
So let’s get into it.
Best Bets
Sex Lives of College Girls
I have not been this obsessed with a show in a *long* time. I look forward to Thursday and watching new episodes of Mindy’s new show. It is a brilliant look at modern university students and the experiences young women have. It’s funny, it’s smart, it’s cute and very sassy. I’m a massive fan and have been telling all my friends to watch this show. If you are not in the know, this is Mindy Kaling’s new show about a group of four roommates at Essex College. Each of the girls have their own stories, hopes and dreams, and escapades. The cast is incredible and the supporting cast is really good as well. It’s streaming on Crave as part of the HBO Max collection. 10/10. A must-watch.
Below Deck
Always phenomal. Below Deck is always a joy.
Real Housewives of Salt Lake City S2
Look out Erika Jayne. RHOSLC’s Jenn Shah is bringing the drama this season and I;m here for it. RH are always dramatic but add in the crazy Mormons and religious cults with a twinkle of Utah unhinge…. you’ve got a perfect reality show. Last year’s first season was bonkers, this year’s second season is every better. Check it out on Hayu or Bravo.
Sex Education S4
I wrapped up watching Sex Education from the summer. It took me so long to get through this season but I was savouring it. If you know, you know. This show is so heartwarming. I’m already excited for S5. Watch it on Netflix.
Love Hard
I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this movie. I wasn’t into the premise. I’m over catfishing online dating stories. It’s boring… but this movie was SO heartwarming, so lovely, and might become of my favourite holiday movies. I’d highly recommend it. Check it out on Netflix.
Squid Game
Okay so I’m not going to go into too much detail here because you can read my full blog. It’s a cultural moment. So it goes on the best bets list.
Okay Shows but not great…
Selling Sunset
I want to love this show so badly. I’ve tried so many times. I tried again last weekend. I passively watched all of S1 and 2. I know that once I get into S3 with the Justin Hartley drama it will be fun, but right now it’s just pretty houses and lacklustre drama for the sake of drama. It feels *too* fake. I’m not sure I like anyone other than Chrishell Stause.
The Bachelorette
I’ve tried to get into this year, I really have. What I watched was good. I really like Michelle. I’m just out of synch with my watch schedule and I’m so behind… It could easily go into the skip it, but I still love it when I can watch it…
SNL
I go back and forth with SNL. Some weeks it’s amazing (cue Taylor Swift’s show), other weeks it needs work (I’m so sorry Simu – it wasn’t fantastic). It’s very hit or miss – but when it hits…. MMM it’s SOO GOOD.
Adele One Night Only
I wanted to love this so badly and I did enjoy it, I was just distracted. We had guests over that night and I couldn’t give it my full focus. The music was incredible. The interview… should have been it’s own thing.
Bad Sport
This sports doc on Netflix has a lot of potential. I was drawn in with the Jamie Salé and David Pelletier 2002 Olympic scandal and it was a great episode. I’d highly recommend that one episode. The issue is that I didn’t want to stick around for anything else.
Real Housewives of New York City S4-5
After finishing RHOBH, I went back to RHONY. It’s fine. I’m not *obessed* with it. I miss Bethenny Frankel. The drama is no longer *fun* – it’s mean. I’m going to stick it out, but I’m just feeling a bit unsure at this point.
Rewatch Central
Gilmore Girls
WHY DID YOU DROP OUT OF YALEL!? I just finished that episode. I love this show so much, it’s my annual fall re-watch but this year I started with S4. Jumped in with the college years. I’m here for it. In Omnia Paratus!
