I watched a lot of great TV in July – let’s get into it 🙂
Best Bets
The Olympics
Okay WOW. I am obsessed with the Olympics and this year’s games are phenomenal. Watching the Canadian women just dominate in the pool was incredible. I’m so thrilled for Penny Oleksiak and I hope she continues to thrive in the years to come. Maggie Mac Neil and Kylie Masse were also incredible to watch and I’m thrilled they also have collected a bunch of hardware. Then there were the divers, the softball team, the ROWERS! There were just so many incredible moments. I cannot wait to continue watching the games into August! My only complaint, from a TV viewer’s point of view, is that I want to watch everything live and it’s pretty much impossible to do so with the time difference.
Young Royals
From the first episode, I knew I was going to love this. I love a prep/boarding school drama, I love a rich kid drama, I loveee a royal drama, and I love Scandinavian TV. I was all in on this. I honestly cannot say enough good things and I’m recommending this to anyone who loves a teen drama. If you are into teen shows this is THE show you need to watch.
Atypical
I adore this show. It has been on my list of favourites for a long time and I was so looking forward to the fourth and final season that dropped this month. I loved it. I think they wrapped up all the storylines nicely, I think they gave Sam a great send-off, and I think the whole team behind Atypical has a lot to be proud of. It’s hard to end a show and they did a great job. I’m sad it’s over, but I will 100% be adding this to my rewatch list in the future.
Never Have I Ever
Season two came out this month and it is great. I’m not done yet so don’t tell me what happens! I’m savouring this show. I’ve got three more episodes to go and I’m stretching it out because I don’t want it to be over yet. I think this season is just as fun as season one and I’m really into the character development. I think Maitreyi Ramakrishnan is rad and I’m really hoping this show continues for a few more seasons.
Ok shows, but not great
Below Deck: Med
This season of Below Deck: Med is in a really tough spot. Below Deck: Sailing Yacht season 2 was one of the best seasons of Below Deck ever. It had all of the drama, both work and personal, we want and was a near perfect season. So anything that came after that would seem boring. I think that’s why I’m not ‘as into it’ this season. That being said… I have a few episodes banked (my roommate and I watch it together and we’ve been very busy) and perhaps a little August binge-watch will make me love it again.
Love Island USA
I was completely caught up on this but there are so many episodes that I’m probably a week behind. Which means I have at least six episodes to catch up on. I love Love Island as an IP, but I don’t think the American version is as good as the British. I just want to watch the UK version. Get on it Hayu.
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
SO. RHOBH is getting interesting. I’m fascinated by the whole Erika Jayne storyline. I just have so many questions and I’m so interested in seeing how everything will play out. This is going to be very fun to watch. Grab the white wine and the popcorn and settle in.
The Bachelorette
Ok so as per usual I’m addicted to this show. I really want Greg to win but I’ve got a gut feeling he won’t. TBD.
FBOY Island
Okay so this is a wild ride of a show. Created by Bach producer Elan Gale – this show is about three girls trying to find love on an island. The catch is that half the boys there are
“nice guys” and half are “fboys”. Is it true that nice guys finish last or will the fboys finally get what’s coming to them. Basically, it’s pure trash and I’m very into it. It’s not on the top of my list to recommend but if you are into reality tv, you’ll probably love this.
Skip It
My Unorthodox Life
I watched two episodes of this, got distracted and never went back. I don’t think I will. If a show doesn’t make me want to watch the next episode, then why am I watching it? There are better shows out there – but I did love the premise of this show. Maybe I’ll go back to it later but for now it’s on the DNF list.
Sex/Life
So I’m always here to support local and this show was filmed in Toronto… but it’s so bad. It’s a steamy show which some folks might love but the plot is terrible.
Rewatch central
One Tree Hill
I’m listening to (and LOVING) The One Tree Hill podcast Drama Queens, so I’m also watching along. I have S1, 3, 4, and 7 at the cottage, so my rewatch is going to be a bit all over the place but that’s ok. If anyone knows where I can watch the other seasons let me know. I’d love to watch s2,5,6, and the later seasons. I’m currently remembering all the reasons why I’m on #TeamNathan. Mostly because James Laverty is extremely hot, but also because he falls for Tutor Girl and high school me was very much a tutor girl type. I was never able to relate to Brooke or Peyton, but Hailey was my girl. She loved Nathan so I loved Nathan.
The West Wing
I have a similar cottage DVD rewatch schedule every year and like clockwork I’m rewatching The West Wing. I’ve seen seasons one and two of The West Wing so many times but have never gone beyond that because I only have the first two seasons on DVD and I don’t know where to stream the seasons. If you know where I can watch The West Wing in Canada please let me know because I would love to watch seasons 3 and beyond.
As always comment below and let me know what you’re watching.
