I’ve been busy. I write up these blogs and then forget to hit publish, so this is a bit of a mashup of a few weeks of videos. So here you go, a bit late but with lots of fantastic things to see. There are so many videos that I’ve been wanting to talk about – starting with Drake and ending with my passion for #TeamIceland.
I promise that I’ll be better at publishing next week 🙂
Music
Drake – I’m Upset
I love Drake so much for this video. We’re going back to the bottom with this video and bringing back the Degrassi kids. I got to admit though – the best part of the whole video is the end credits. I really want Drake to sample the Degrassi theme song.
Sigrid – High Five
So this is a recent discovery and I’m obsessed. Sigrid is just amazing – make sure you go check out her other songs. Don’t Kill My Vibe is specifically a standout.
Shawn Mendes – Nervous
I’ve already established how much I love Shawn Mendes. This song is so fun and this music video is very cute. Try to not smile as you watch this. It’s impossible.
Sam Smith – Baby, You Make Me Crazy
I adore this video – it truly shows Sam’s talent. This is the Sam Smith I love best – acoustic authenticity. I’m a big fan.
Paul McCartney – Carpool Karaoke
This might be the best, most perfect Carpool yet. When James starts tearing thinking about his granddad seeing him now, I started tearing up. When the crowd at the pub went wild, I went wild. It was so incredibly well done. As Scott Feinberg Tweeted, ” This may be the coolest thing to happen on a late night show since a certain band appeared on ED SULLIVAN in February of 1964 — just awesome.”
New Hope Club – Medicine
I have to admit, I thought this was a cover of the new Harry Styles song Medicine. But this was better. I think New Hope Club has so much potential. This feels like they are coming into their own. It’s a great teen moment and I hope the 14-year-old girls (and boys) all over the world fall in love with these three.
Demi Lovato – Sober
So this is a statement. Demi Lovato is infamously known for her past addictions. This song feels deeply personal and deeply disappointing. I want Demi to be successful – I hope this was a bump on her journey and not a full derailing. It’s an amazing song.
Charlie Puth – Empty Cups
This is another of my weekly jams. I can’t help but dance around the kitchen to this jam. Also the NYT Popcast talked about Puth and Mendes and I agree with them when they say that Puth is creating much better music, but I disagree that Mendes has gone downhill. What do you think?
The Carters – APES**T
It’s just worth pointing out that they rented out The Louvre. That’s just the tip of the iceberg in discussing how amazing this is. I cannot wait to see what else comes out from this POWER couple.
TV
The House of Flowers
This looks so fun. I cannot wait to binge this on a rainy day.
Bodyguard
This looks so intense and again – I cannot wait to binge this on a rainy day.
The Crown’s Sets
The Crown’s sets are incredible – the richness of the art direction on this show is unparalleled. Listening to the set designer break it down is a master class in what you can do with a space.
Pete Davidson is Engaged!
This is a very fun interview. Pete and Jimmy are clearly IRL friends. Also, we know that Jimmy and Ariana are buddies. So we knew this was going to be a thing on The Tonight Show. I’m here for it. I love the fact that we’re talking about the engagement and Robert Pattison is just chilling there. There are many many things to love about this clip.
Crosswalk the Musical – Andrew Lloyd Webber
Crosswalk the musical just went classic. I would like expanded versions of each of these musicals. K thanks.
Canada Vs US – Late night coverge
For the last two weeks, Trump has had a beef with Canada. The Late Night Shows did a great job covering it:
Movies
A Star is Born
Gaga + Bradley = a movie I want to see. I’ve been hearing things about this movie for over a year and we finally have a trailer… and it’s amazing.
Wreck-It-Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet
Watch this just for the Princess scene. Then read this book. THEN give me a call and let’s talk about the way Princesses impact young girls.
Welcome to Marwen
This looks wonderful. It’s got a great cast, a wonderful idea and I’m really interested in how they created this world. I think this will be a ‘movie to watch’ as we move into awards season.
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before
I’m on the wait list at the library to read this book before the movie comes out. It looks amazing. I think this is going to be a great little movie that will be perfect for a rainy Friday night.
Little Women
Well this is just adorable… however I feel like I’ve seen a bunch of Little Women remakes in past years on youtube etc. Not sure if this is something the masses want?
Like Father
All Hail Kristen Bell. Anything she is in gold and Like Father looks fantastic. I’m pumped it’s on Netflix and I don’t have to wait to see in theatres.
Internet Things
Join #TeamIceland
So they’ve been eliminated at this point. But I’m solidly on #TeamIceland. I’ve been to the country twice. Once in 2013 and once in 2014. It’s a fantastic place, with even better people and I would love to join in on a Viking clap at some point.
