TV Reviews

It’s Super Bowl Sunday and because we’re going to Minneapolis – so I figured I should talk about my favourite Minnesotan TV Show…

My mom and I decided to watch the television series Fargo, over the holidays this year. It’s a winter show and felt somewhat ‘festive’. Lots of snow and wonderful sweaters.  Starting Billy Bob Thornton, Allison Tolman, Colin Hanks and Martin Freeman, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I loved this show.

I loved how cozy, yet dark this show was but what made this show compelling and engaging is  Tolman’s character, police officer Molly Solverson.

Molly just made this show sing. She carried this show. She had it all figured out, but the boys in her precinct treated her like shit.. They #mansplained and ignored her. Yet she kept going because she was RIGHT.  Molly is the hero we all need in a show. The role model we all should look up to. If you are going to watch this show for any reason – watch it for Molly. And you know…  Billy Bob Thornton is also great, Colin Hanks is endearing and Martin Freeman is crazy. So maybe watch it for everyone else too – because the supporting cast is phenomenal.

As for season 2…

I’m not sure if I’m going to watch it. I watched the first episode and I could not get over the fact that Landry and Torrance Shipman are murders. It just doesn’t work for me. I didn’t like it when Landry got in trouble in FNL season 2 and I don’t love that he’s in trouble now.

I thought that Torrance learned her lesson that being a bitch wasn’t the way to go in Bring in On and I’m really disappointed in her.

Also – I cannot handle their Minnesota accents. I can’t do it. Maybe I’ll power through because Critics say the series just gets better and better as it goes forward. TBD – I’ll let you know if I watch it.
